I just completed setting up 2 giveaways using Rafflecopter. Rafflecopter is a free online giveaway program. It is easy to create your giveaway using their template. You then take the code created and paste it onto your web application for viewing. Rafflecopter allows you to choose a wide variety of way to enter a giveaway. It even generates the random winner. The result is professional giveaway that allows you to grow your customer base.
To begin, go to their website: www.rafflecopter.com and create your account.
You are now ready to go! The templage now allows you to create a giveaway name. Follow along and use their preset entries including ‘Follow so-and-so on facebook’ and ‘Follow on Twitter’. You can ask them to leave a comment on the blog entry. Come up with your own options and add them to the list of entry possibilities.
You can set some entries to be mandatory. When you set a mandatory entry, additional entry possibilities do not show to the public until the mandatory entry is completed.
When you are finished, copy your code and add it to your web page.
Another great feature is that you can edit the giveaway very easily. Perhaps you found a typo or you want to add another entry possibility. Simply go to Rafflecopter and make your change. You do not need to change the code on your webpage. It instantly appears.
There are a lot of rules about giveaways. Facebook has rules for posting giveaways on Facebook. The FCC has federal guidelines for giveaways. Check the FAQ section at Rafflectoper for answers.
I knew from the posts I read this was a simple program, so why was I having so much trouble? I was making it harder than it was. And there was one little detail that I failed to understand.
When I tried to post this using Live Writer the widget would not show up in preview. When I tried to add the widget and preview it using Web Expressions the same thing happened.
Because the information is held on their website, it will not display in preview mode. So to satisfy my own curiosity and to know that I was doing it correctly, I posted it to a page that was not linked publicly yet. I verified I had it correct then posted the public link.
Now that I have successfully published my first 2 giveaways I am planning the next one.
